Please pray this week
with the Church of England:
for The Church of the Province of Myanmar (Burma) Samuel San Si Htay Archbishop; and for the problems people face in maintaining their church buildings, but that all our churches may be places where God’s presence is felt; and for those people being confirmed at Leeds Parish Church and St. Mark Harrogate.
with the Methodist Church:
for the Horsforth and Bramley Circuit and the confident visions for the future expressed by the Circuit Meeting and shared by the Pudsey and Farsley Circuit. We pray for the Circuit Stewards and the ministers and the work they are undertaking this year for the inauguration of the new Circuit in September 2006.
with the United Reformed Church:
on this Nationwide Quiet Weekend, we pray for all those people who will be experiencing silence to a greater or lesser degree, including those with hearing difficulties, and we pray for everyone who will be ministering to them physically and spiritually.
Please continue to pray for Bernice Brayshaw, and for Peter (on his 70th birthday) as they support each other; and for Paul Farrell who has not been too well lately; and continue to remember Ann Holdsworth and her family in your prayers. Please also remember Jane Connor’s daughter, Heather, waiting for results following surgery.
Thank you to everyone who helped with the Community Café yesterday. We hope to hold another one in two month’s time.
Each week we pray for part of the Cottingley Estate, remembering all those people who live there, either in families or as individuals living on their own. This week we bring before God in our thoughts and prayers the residents of Cottingley Approach (1-46). We also pray for activities and organisations that serve the estate; and this week we pray for the Cottingley Hall Community Association, providing fellowship and entertainment in the Centre on 4 days every week; and for Cottingley Primary School and the current search for a new Headteacher.
Caring for Life
We are a prayer-supporter of this Christian organisation, based at Crag House Farm, Cookridge. We pray for the tight financial situation that CfL faces; that their daily needs will be met and that they will be able to bring new supporters on board.
Day out at Knaresborough
We are planning a day at Knaresborough on Sunday 23rd July, beginning with the morning service at the United Reformed Church, followed by lunch there, and an afternoon of talking together and a short tour of the town. Please book this date in your diary now and do your best to keep the day free so that you can come with us. Free transport will be provided (both to and around Knaresborough) and there is now a sheet in the church for you to book your place for this day out
The Leprosy Mission – Tea Parties.
Anne and Barry Parker are holding Tea Parties at the end of June to raise funds for The Leprosy Mission. These will take place on Saturday and Sunday 24th & 25th June from 2 – 5 pm at The Manse, 19 Park View, Beeston, and on Monday 26th here at Cottingley from 1.30 – 3.30 pm. Fairly-traded refreshments will be served and TLM goods will be on sale, many of them made at Leprosy Rehabilitation Centres.
Prayer for Cottingley
A group of friends led by Sarah James (Outreach Worker from St. Luke’s Beeston) plan to come to Cottingley on three consecutive Thursday mornings beginning 29th June. We will gather at 9.30 am and then spend much of the morning in prayer, first in the church and then in different parts on the estate. You are invited to join them for all or part of this time, sharing in their interest and enthusiasm for Cottingley and the residents here.
Don’t forget that if you have any contributions for The Link
you can phone Anne or Barry on 276 1797
